¡Esperamos que sus pequeños puedan unirse a nosotros para disfrutar de un divertido cuento seguido de una actividad artesanal con Miss Maya Venezuela! La historia destacada es Martín el astronauta por Jimena Aguilar. 12 de mayo de 2026 a las 10:00 am. Esta actividad está diseñada para familias con niños de seis años o menos. Este programa es gratuito.

We hope your little ones can join us for a fun story followed by a craft activity with Ms. Maya! The featured story is Martin the Astronaut by Jimena Aguilar. This activity is designed for families with children ages six and under. This program is free of charge. Please note: This storytime will be in Spanish.

The program will take place primarily indoors, in the climate-controlled Farm History Center at Historic Oak View County Park, and includes standing and sitting.

(Rescheduled) Moth Week Celebration at Sandy Pines Preserve

Due to a weather cancellation on July 24th, we've decided that every week is Moth Week at Sandy Pines Preserve. Join us at Sandy Pines on Saturday, August 1st from 8:00 pm—11:00 pm to take part in the fun! We will use a common method of surveying moths called light sheeting, which involves setting up a sheet in a natural area and shining a bright light on it to attract moths and other nocturnal insects. We'll monitor the sheet throughout the night and identify anything that lands. We'll meet in the Sandy Pines parking lot at 8:00 pm (7201 Doc Procter Rd, Wendell, NC 27591) and work adjacent to the parking lot and artificial wetland. What to bring: Light (headlamp or flashlight preferable), close-toed shoes, chair, snack, water, dark clothing What not to bring: Pets, bug spray (it's harmful to the insects we'll be working with) Final decisions regarding weather will be made by 2:30 pm on August 1st.
